Frequently Asked Questions
How often should I have my rugs cleaned? For a rug under normal use, the industry guideline is not to wait any longer than two years in between professional cleaning. Entry rugs that get high traffic, or rugs that are in high traffic areas with a lot of activity from small children or pets, can be cleaned annually because it's healthier for them to not have a lot of contaminates in the rugs. If you have a really good vacuuming routine, you can extend the length of time before it's ready to clean the rug about a year. It's going to cost me more to clean the rug than I paid for it. what should I do? With a lot of rugs today, labor overseas is incredibly cheap that a lot of rugs are more expensive to clean than to buy. because our labor prices are much higher, and this cleaning process takes a lot of labor. What you need to decide is whether this rug means a lot to you or not. If it has a lot of memories, or it fits perfectly in your setting, then you need to take care of it. If it's easy to go out and buy a new one, then you should go buy a new one. But what you can't do is just not clean the rug you're using..it's unhealthy to keep dirty rugs in your home. Decide whether you want to keep the rug, and if you do, our process is the recommended process for cleaning the rug. And if it's easy to get another one, then it would probably be a good idea to do that. I thought you couldn't use water to clean an oriental rug? Overseas they toss their oriental rugs into the river to clean them, so they have always used water to clean rugs. We follow many of those same steps here, except overseas when the rug bleeds it is no big deal..but here it is..so we are trained to take the proper steps of using vinegar to make sure the dyes are stable during the cleaning so that we can give the rug a really good bath. My rug is a BIG one; can I have a discount on cleaning? You know I wish I could do that, but with larger rugs it actually takes more labor to clean them. We have a set profit margin on the work that we do, and I like to pay my people a fair salary, so I just can't ask them to work for less money on a larger rug that takes more work to clean. What does the word "Shuwb" mean? Thank you for asking. Shuwb (pronounced "shoob") is a Hebrew word that means: to turn back (not necessarily with the idea of return to the starting point). I like this name because we can make the rug "clean" (free of dirt) but we cannot make stained rugs "new" again. do you offer a "two for one" price like some other companies do? Unfortunately, we're unable to provide this service. We put much pride in our work and much value in your rug. Its been said; "There is no value in anything that is free." As the owner of Shuwb Rug Service, I heartily agree with this. Personally; when I hear of something that is "free" I wonder "what's the catch?" Companies that offer "two for one specials" are not cleaning the rugs via a hand wet wash. They are cleaning them, but I can assure you they're not spending much time on a rug that's being cleaned for free. These days more than ever; you get what you pay for. True, rug washing is certainly not "rocket science" but it most definitely does take skill and knowledge. There are only a few in the carpet cleaning industry that know how to properly wash a rug. Do you really want your oriental or other specialty rug (which may have cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars) to be cleaned in a way that would devalue it? |
